An Interpretation Project Report On Malala Yousafzai's Address At The UN Youth Assembly

This report is an interpretation project report.The object of this interpretation project is Malala Yousafzai's Address at the UN Youth Assembly,and the form of the interpretation is English-Chinese consecutive interpretation.The interpreter recorded the whole interpretation process,then transferred the content of the recording into text and revised the text.This report is based on the interpreter's study on the revised version.The guiding strategy of this project is Syntactic Linearity.This report analyzes application of Syntactic Linearity in the whole process of interpretation with examples and comes to the conclusion that Syntactic Linearity can be applied in English-Chinese Consecutive Interpreting,and,if applied properly,can ease the interpreter's pressure and burden and thus improve the interpretation quality.Therefore,interpreters should practice the application of Syntactic Linearity.Through this interpretation project,the interpreter widened her theoretical knowledge on interpretation,accumulated practical experience of interpretation and learned the approaches to do interpretation studies,which can not only help the interpreter to improve her interpretation skills and also set a good foundation for her future study on interpretation.
