With the deepening of economic globalization, more and more cultural and economic exchanges occur at home and abroad, which stimulates the tourism industry.Mount Wudang, one of the world's cultural heritages and national 5A scenery sites,has attracted a large number of oversea tourists.As tourism texts are open windows to foreign visitors, they have become one of the hot topics in the translation studies recently. High-quality tourism translation not only arouses foreign tourists' interests, but also assists them in understanding Chinese culture, which contributes to the spreading of the Taoist culture.The thesis employs the principle of “read, translate and write” as its theoretical framework. By using both theoretical and empirical methods, this thesis attempts to make a comprehensive investigation of Chinese-English translation of scenic spot public signs and introductions so as to prove that the principle of “read, translate and write” works in the Chinese-English tourism translation. The author puts forward some specific strategies based on the “read, translate and write” principle: 1. be exposed to a lot of tourism materials of the target language; 2. take advantage of the expressions and cultural values in the parallel texts.The thesis is composed of six chapters. Chapter One is a general introduction to the research. Chapter Two presents a detailed view of previous studies of tourism translation and the “read, translate and write” principle both at home and abroad.Chapter Three offers theoretical framework of the thesis. Chapter Four makes a comparative analysis between characteristics of Chinese and English tourism texts.Chapter Five is the detailed analysis of application of the “read, translate and write”principle in the practice of Mount Wudang. Chapter Six makes a conclusion of the thesis, including major findings, limitations and suggestions for future research.
