A Report On The Translation Of Academic Paper In Demography

This is a translation report based on the author?s practical translation experience of a Chinese thesis Assimilation or Integration: The Integration of Rural-Urban Migrants in China, which is commissioned by a demographer at the Institute of Population and Development Studies of Xi?an Jiaotong University. As the source article is a typical academic paper with the character of applicability, thus, the author translated it into English on the base of the functional equivalence theory. In this translation practice, the author analyzed and solved the problems, and concluded the strategies to address these issues, making this report a reality. In this report, except for the introduction to the translation project and its significance, the author also described the preparation and process of the translation.
