A Translation Report On Rendering China Energy Outlook 2014 Into English

Since the reform and opening up, China's demand in energy consumption has been fueled by a sustained and rapid development, leading to a series of problems: per capita possession is low, environmental pollution was caused by low efficiency of energy such as air pollution and water pollution etc. In recent years, the haze weather of air pollution has aroused attention of Chinese people, which is a one of the heated issues in China. The author selects the book of China Energy Outlook 2014 as the translation program. The book is divided into seven chapters, mainly are the relation among economic growth, energy development and environmental pollution, China's environment carrying capacity, current environmental management, how to map out the control scheme and how to realize pollution transfer and improve energy structure.Chapter two is the translation program of the report. It focuses on the current situation of economic growth and energy development, analyzing the environmental problems,the source and influence of haze through data and cases, and pointing out the direction for further development of energy. The translation of this chapter will make more people in the world to understand the urgency of haze, to know the relationship between environmental pollution and energy development, and realize the severity of haze and the importance of the management, so as to cope with it together.The report consists of five parts. First, it introduces the background, goals and significance of the program, including the international and practical meaning of the translation. Then, briefly analyzes the translation text and introduces all the procedures, plan and difficulties. The report explains the problems from words translation, grammar application, long sentences translation and paragraphs translation on the basis of Relevance Theory by Gutt. And the author concludes the use of literal translation, free translation, consolidation. Finally, it is the conclusion of the program, summarize the insufficiencies and problems. To some extent, the source text promotes more people in the world to understand the energy development of China, telling the world that the positive attitude of Chinese people to solve theproblem of haze and enhance the cooperation between China and other countries and provides some references for the similar program as well.
