Based on the translation process of the fifth issue of 2017 of Architecture &Detail, this report mainly focuses on the representation of objectivity of architectural English in translation, which can be developed through the exploration of translation strategies of explicit semantic structures and impersonal subject sentences.Architecture & Detail is one of the professional magazines focusing on the details of architectural designs. It introduces readers the latest materials and technologies about architecture, providing room and opportunities for communication and interaction, broadening horizons and connection with the world of people in this field. The original text is an architectural text, and a variety of explicit semantic structures are adopted and impersonal subject sentences are frequently used, which reflect the semantically objective, structurally rigorous and logically strict features of architectural English. The explicit semantic structures are mainly embodied in the application of lexical cohesive devices and references. And impersonal subject sentences are embodied in sentences with concrete nouns as their subjects and abstract nouns as their subjects. To represent the objectivity of architectural English in translation, for the translation of explicit semantic structures, the author adopts translation strategies such as repetition and amplification in the target text to retain and show lexical cohesive devices and references in the original. For subject sentences whose subjects are concrete nouns, amplification and extension of meanings of verbs are used. And for those whose subjects are abstract nouns, adjustment of word order, conversion and amplification are employed. The author hopes that this report can provide useful reference for other translators and architectural enthusiasts engaged in architectural English translation.
