China is an ancient civilized country enjoying five thousands years of history. With the trend of globalization, a great deal of western cultures starts flowing into China. The time we are living in is full of divers cultures now, and people prefer to pursue the cultures with recreational characteristics. Therefore, the traditional Chinese culture gains diminishing attentions at present, and for the children, they just have no clue about the traditional Chinese culture. As an essential component of the outstanding Chinese national culture, the folk auspicious patterns not only have a long history and contain a profound cultural connotation and patterns but also express the people's ideology at that time. We can not ignore the children's knowledge absence of the Chinese traditional folk auspicious patterns, so what we should do is to provide some ways for them to know about the traditional folk auspicious patterns, and accordingly carry forward the Chinese folk auspicious patterns as well.As an important part in humanities, art is a discipline which is full of humanistic spirits. The children's art education is a critical part in the art education and it plays an important role in inheriting and carrying forward the outstanding Chinese art culture. The children's art education is aiming at promoting the development of children's imagination and creativity, guiding them to experience the beautiful things and stimulating the coordinate development among eyes, brain and hands at the same time. It is necessary to run an auspicious patterns course of Chinese folk art for children for better inheriting and developing the Chinese folk auspicious patterns and to make the Chinese traditional culture shine on the international stage. Chinese folk auspicious and children's art both are the good expectation and blessing of life featuring the vivid and childlike images, and they enjoy a complementary relationship as well. The application of the Chinese folk auspicious patterns in the children's art education could inherit and carry forward the national culture, enhance children's sense of national pride, diversify the course content, improve their cognitive competence and promote their creativity as well as the aesthetic ability at the same time.Combining by the author's practical teaching experiences, the thesis makes a systemically research on the Chinese folk auspicious patterns and children's art education. The thesis further studies the application and method of the folk auspicious patterns in children's education and merge them together. It is favorable for children's comprehensive study and development with the choosing of positive, propitious patterns which are close to children's life.The thesis also discusses the teaching method of Chinese folk auspicious patterns that is the art teaching should be combined by the festival customs, daily life, social development and folk legends with the aims of inheriting and carrying forward the Chinese auspicious patterns and cultivating children's sense of identity and belonging of the national culture.
