Butler's Gender Theory And Literary Criticism

Judith butler's gender theory has its charms, in our country, translation and research of her theory is still in infancy. This article will focus on butler's gender theory, and apply it to the literary criticism.In the introduction, I introduced the selected topic reason from three aspects:to disabuse, straighten out and innovate.The first chapter proceed from not overcoming heterosexual system which is the limitation of traditional feminist and the gender theory in the past. I also explained the advanced nature of Butler's gender performativity theory and queer theory.In order to combine theory with practice, we have to find the correspondency and the method. The second chapter introduces the possibility of apply gender theory to literary criticism, after that I entered to the discussion of butler's own literary criticism practice. Criticism is her book Antigone's Claim:Kinship Between Life and Death as well as her understanding of the movie named "Paris is burning".The third chapter mainly apply the theory of butler into literary criticism practice.I discussed the plot of homosexuality in the film "farewell my concubine" and the youth birds in Crystal Boys written by Bai Xianyong.After the completion of the subject of the paper, I found that I still have something to say, I apply gender theory to explore some issues about subculture.
