Report On The Escort Interpreting Of The International Workshop On "Sandstone Landforms"

This thesis is a practice report on the escort interpreting. It has six parts. The first part is the task description, mainly giving a description of the background information of the escort interpreting task. The second part is the process description, mainly consisting of the pre-task preparation, the on-site interpreting and the post-task summary. The third part summarizes the problems encountered in the escort interpreting task, including the interpretation of culturally-loaded words, information loss and interpreting stress. The fourth part is devoted to proposing useful countermeasures for these problems. In the fifth part, the author wraps up the thesis by making a conclusion of the whole thesis.Compared with congress interpreting, escort interpreting is less formal and can be taken in various circumstances. However, doing escort interpreting is never an easy thing. An escort interpreter should have not only profound professional knowledge on interpreting, but also the strong capability of tackling all kinds of problems encountered in the escort interpreting task. Therefore, research on countermeasures for problems encountered in the escort interpreting task is of great significance. It is the author's sincere hope that this thesis can provide some references to fellow interpreters.
