A Practice Report On Deconstruction And Reorganization Of Redundant Informations In Chinese Translation Of Environment Column Articles In The Guardian

This practice report takes information theory and functional equivalence theory as its points of view,and chooses Suzanne Goldenberg's reports about Paris climate meeting(2015,11)published in the environment column in the Guardian as the translation materials,focuses on the difficulties and problems found in the translation process,and discusses deconstruction and reorganization of Chinese translating of redundant information in the source text.Translation problems have been defined focusing on explicit semantic redundant information and implicit semantic redundant information.Explicit semantic redundant information is mainly represented as recurrence of the same lexical item,recurrence of synonymous lexical items,recurrence of near-synonymous lexical items,and recurrence of demonstrative pronouns.Implicit semantic redundant information is prominently shown as lack of lexical items and of cultural elements.To deal with these translation problems,two solutions which are deconstruction and reorganization of explicit semantic redundant information and of implicit redundant information are proposed.Deconstruction and reorganization of explicit semantic redundant information concentrates on discussing compress and extension of recurrence of the same lexical item,compress and extension of recurrence of synonymous lexical items,transformation and extension of recurrence of near-synonymous lexical items,and amplification and extension of recurrence of demonstrative pronouns.For deconstruction and reorganization of implicit semantic redundant information,the amplification and extension of lack of lexical items and of lack of cultural elements are mainly discussed.Case analysis and translation practice manifest that deconstruction and reorganization of redundant information can provide certain guidance and practical value to Chinese translation of this type of texts.
