Signing a contract is a guarantee to protect the benefits of both parties and carry out the business activities smoothly. The quality of translation plays a vital role in business activities, thus it has a strong practical significance to explore the Chinese-English translation of the contract text. This paper is a Chinese-English translation project report. The original text selects chapter 2 of special technical specifications that a country signed with a domestic engineering corporation. The report belongs to the category of applied translation, the requirements of which are to deliver right information to reflect the rights and obligations of the parties and to focus on the effect of information transmission at the same time, with completeness of the contents, clearness of statement and no additional items and omissions. The original text mainly specify the site, camp, offices, laboratories, construction facilities, general services, construction supplies, protection measures and so on, no official translation is published so far. The functional equivalence provided by Eugene Nida has put forward the equivalence from the smallest to the largest extent. No matter what kind of languages legal contracts have been translated into, the characteristics of the accuracy and seriousness of the language will not change, so from this perspective, the functional equivalence theory can be the best principles of contract translation.Through this translation practice, the author have summed up the following points of the experience. First of all, translation is a job which shall be working slowly and deliberately. Secondly, in order to be an excellent translator, one shall not only obtain a high level of language skills, but also be proficient in a particular area of expertise, therefore, in order to become an excellent translator one shall enhance the learning of professional knowledge and knowledge of other disciplines in the future study and life. Finally, the author has also realized that learning translating methods and techniques can not rely solely on the teacher to initiate in class and the explanation of the books, but also needs long-term accumulations and summariesduring the process of translation practice. Only through the initiative to consult others and the active discussions with the classmates can one get the most widely-accepted translations.
