A Report On The English-Chinese Translation Of The Complex Interaction Of Retinal,Optical And Environment Factors In Myopia Aetiology (Excerpt)

Medical English translation, a branch of Science and Technology translation, is of increasing significance in the expansion of international communication. The material of this report is an excerpt from a medical thesis, titled The Complex Interaction of Retinal, Optical and Environment Factors in Myopia Aetiology. This medical thesis analyses the influence of retinal, optical and environment factors on myopia from aetiology aspect, their complex interaction, as well as the great effect of this interaction on the existing research and future studies. Furthermore, this thesis also addresses some valuable suggestions on the study and treatment of myopia, it is not only creative, but also practical.The translation report consists of four parts, including task description, translation process, case analysis and summary. The first part is the task description which introduces the source of the translation material, the contents of the material and the significance of translating the material. The second part describes the process of preparatory work, the first draft of the translation, the revised version and the final version. Then, with Eugene Nida's functional equivalence theory as the theoretical guide, the third part analyzes the difficulties and focuses in the translation process, including the translation of terminologies and long sentences. The fourth part summarizes the experience and lessons in the translation process.
