The Study On The Difference In Meaning Of Chinese-Japanese Homograph In JLPT

China and Japan are neighbours separated by only a strip of waters, there are a large number of homographs between Chinese and Japanese which worth doing in-depth study. The article selects all 545 Chinese-Japanese homographs which have differences in meaning from The Japanese-Language Proficiency Test(JLPT) for comparative study. Studying the differences in meaning of Chinese-Japanese homographs which has very important academic value and application value. It not only can enrich the study of contrastive linguistics, reinforce the theoretical basis of language learning, but also help the people of China and Japan to learn each other's languages better and understand each other's culture, thus promoting the communication further and enhancing the feelings between people of the two countries.The article is divided into five parts. The first part is the introduction. The second part is the comparative study of the JLPT's primary Chinese-Japanese homographs, including the source of Chinese-Japanese homographs, the similarities and differences between Chinese and Japanese characters, the types of Japanese words, the differences in meaning of Chinese-Japanese homographs from N5, N4 and N3 for detailed analyses. The third part is the comparative study of the JLPT's intermediate and advanced Chinese-Japanese homographs, including the differences in meaning of Chinese-Japanese homographs from N2 and N1 for detailed analyses. The fourth part is statistics of the ralated data and the cause for the differences in meaning of words, including statistics of all levels of the related data, each change in the meaning of words in Chinese and Japanese. The fifth part is the conclusion. The following conclusions can be drawn through the study. The amount of nouns in Chinese-Japanese homographs is far more than other parts of speech, a total of 462. The amount of Chinese-Japanese homographs which have differences in meaning from N2 is the most, a total of 169. The amounts of Chinese-Japanese homographs which have similar meaning and different meaning are nearly the same, respectively 264 and 281. The amount of Chinese-Japanese homographs which have the same handwriting form as Simplified Chinese is the most, a total of 306.
