A Report On The Translation Of A Detailed Introduction To The Red Tourism Site Of The Changjiao Tragedy Memorial—From The Perspective Of Instrumental Translation

As a new form of theme tourism, red tourism combines red cultural themes with green natural landscape, functioning as a good medium for revolutionary tradition education together with the purpose of promoting tourism industry. Along with diffusion of China's culture into the world, red tourism sites not only stimulate patriotic enthusiasm for Chinese tourists, but also attract the attention of a large number of foreign tourists. Therefore, the issue of the red tourism translation plays an important intermediating role in spreading Chinese red tourism culture.This translation report is based on the Chinese-English translation text of selection from the archive material edited by the Broadcasting and Television Administration of Nanxian. The material is compiled into a brochure entitled A Detailed Introduction to the Red Tourism Site of the Changjiao Tragedy Memorial, a typical translation of red tourism site. Owing to the differences between the Eastern and Western culture, we should pay attention not only to the accuracy, readability and flexibility, but also the different cultural backgrounds of the foreign readers, especially their acceptance of the Chinese featured sentential structures and the understanding of the tourism information with Chinese characteristics in the course of translating the publicity texts of red tourism. In light of the instrumental translation of the Skopos theory, the report discusses the translation process and explores the effectiveness of the translation strategies.The content of this report consists of three parts:introduction, conclusion and five chapters of the body of the report. The introduction elaborates the background of Nanxian Changjiao Tragedy Memorial and the reasonable guidance of instrumental translation in this translation task. The first chapter gives a brief introduction to the background of the task, the reasons and significance for choosing this text, the content and the textual features. The second chapter mainly states the preparation before translation, including translation tools and references, the duration of the task and the quality control of the task. The third chapter introduces the guiding translation theory instrumental translation. The fourth chapter is the core of this report. Under the guidance of instrumental translation, the author combines the translated text with the three types of instrumental translation to give a detailed analysis to the applicable methods in the translation. In the fifth chapter, difficulties encountered during the translation and their solutions are analyzed. The final part draws a conclusion of the author's experience and benefits gained in translating A Detailed Introduction to the Red Tourism Site of the Changjiao Tragedy Memorial:the effective translation of red tourism translation texts can promote the development of red tourism and expand the influence of Chinese culture across the world.
