With the rapid development of Chinese economy, demand for professional talent gradually expanded, especially in oral English ability talent. During three years of college education, higher vocational college students have learned a large number of professional knowledge, exercise professional skills, hands-on ability, by units of all ages. However, their English level, especially practical oral English ability is often unsatisfactory, directly restricts the higher vocational college students' career choice and career development. So it is imminent to improve oral English Teaching ability in higher vocational colleges.This research analyzed the characteristics of higher vocational oral English teaching and traditional teaching methods and so on,which found that there are some shortcomings in the traditional oral English teaching method in the process of practical teaching. After a lot of literature research and experimental comparison, the author thinks that the Communicative Language Teaching method is suitable for the oral English teaching in higher vocational college.The methods used in this research are literature questionnaire survey, interviews and experiments, collect and collate, summarize and analyze relevant information on the communicative approach and oral English teaching in our country and abroad.The questionnaire is done in a higher vocational college of Jiangxi Province. 576 students do the questionnaire and 535 copies of questionnaires are received, covering 12 professional. Questionnaire analyses were used to investigate the students' English level. As the results show the students' English level is relatively low as a whole, rural students' oral English learning difficulties, students' learning motivation is not strong, learning objectives are not clear, the teaching effect is poor, low satisfaction, and professional derailment. Then the author spend a semester teaching respectively of grade 2012, 2013, 2014 classes, a total of 247 students by using the communicative language teaching method as a experiment. The experiment and data analyses and student feedback obtained results show that the implementation of the communicative approach in English teaching, the students' oral English have improved significantly, the average score is one level higher, the excellent rate speed faster. Finally,the author interviewed the 166 students participated in the experiment of the test and found that they were satisfied of being improved in vocabulary, grammar based, self-confidence and expression activity, which indicating that students in the psychological acceptance and affirmed this teaching method. Obviously, the communicative language teaching method is one of the most effective methods for the oral English Teaching in higher vocational colleges.During the experiment, the author put forward the following strategies: creating real situation, let students feel themselves among it; focus on innovation, train the students' innovation consciousness; student as the center, participating in teaching activities; teacher leading, guide students to learn; the desalination, attention to the learning process, in order to promote the communicative language teaching in oral English Teaching in the successful use.
