The Dialogue Between Marxism And Ecological Economics

Ecological socialism,is a stage of the Marxism development,and a special field closely focused on the worldly capitalism ecological problems;and Ecological economics,by its very nature,is an interdisciplinary and comprehensive disciplines studied the relations between ecological and economic.For Ecological socialist Paul Burkett,Marxism has a strong correlation with Ecological economics in the research,so there are possibility and necessity for them to have a dialogue.This dialogue is not a graft of some ideas or research methods from Marxism to Ecological economics,vice versa;but a more completed basis of critique,which provided by the basic position of Marxism,that is historical materialism and class analysis,and the object of criticism are some basic categories used by the capitalism political economics for defending the fundamental system of capitalism.For Burkett's opinion,these categories include the relations between nature and economic value,the treatment of nature as capital,the significance of the entropy law for economic systems,and the concept of sustainable development.Depending on Marxism,Burkett analyzed some related concepts came from ecological economics and its origin,i.e.Physiocrats and neoclassical political economy;and pointed out that just because the ecological economics falling to analysis the capitalist production relations,it sees nature as capital naturally,and neglects the class position among analysis of the relations between nature and human production,and confuses the continued capitalism with the Sustainable human development.So the significance of the dialogue between Marxism and Ecological economics,is the possibility of forming a Marxism ecological economics which has the ability to dissect the capitalism social relations.
