A Report Of Tender Document Translation Based On Accuracy Principle

As an organized way of market transaction, tender has been widely used on an international scale. Tender document is the main basis for tender and keeps playing a crucial role in the tender process because it is legally binding. At present, the demand for tender document translation has increased with a growing number of domestic companies and corporations getting involved in the tender of overseas projects. In essence, tender document belongs to business contracts, thus accuracy principle shall be implemented when translating tender documents.This paper is a report on the English-Chinese translation of a tender document, which explores the translation methods and strategies to implement accuracy principle. This report consists of four parts. The first part is an introduction to the translation project background and the nature and features of tender document translation. The second part is an overview of accuracy principle and reveals the link between accuracy principle and informative texts. The third part discusses the application of accuracy principle and corresponding translation methods at lexical and syntactic levels through examples. The last part serves as a conclusion of this project. In this paper, the author highlights the necessity of doing research on the source text and the importance of accuracy principle in tender document translation, attempting to provide a reference.
