Informative text is an important text type proposed by the famous translation theorist Peter Newmark in his text type theory. This type of text takes the transmission of information as the main purpose, and is characterized by a large amount of information and objectivity. Therefore, accuracy is crucial in translating this type of text. This translation practice report is to review, sort out and summarize the whole process of the E-C translation practice project of seven dam failure cases undertaken by the author.Through comparative analysis and study of the original text, the author has learned that the texts of dam failure cases are informative texts. The author has therefore taken accuracy as the basic principle of this translation practice project and tried to explore how to achieve accuracy of text, sentence pattern and vocabulary in E-C translation of informative text. This practice report illustrates various translation strategies and methods adopted by the author in translating the texts of dam failure cases through a large number of examples,so as to meet the requirements of accuracy. In the end,the author reflects on the gains and losses in the process of translation, hoping to provide some experience and reference for future informative text translation.
