Chinese language education has been a tradition in Korea for centuries, forming its own faculty of Chinese language teachers and teaching system for the Chinese language. Since China and Korea formally established diplomatic relations in 1992, Korea has experienced a “Chinese language fever” which has continued to heat up. Whether it is international students studying in China or people take up classes domestically, the number of Chinese language learners worldwide is increasing. In Korea, there has been a rapid increase in the number of teachers from China employed by schools all over the country to teach Chinese in response to the increasing demand to learn Chinese. Korea National Institute For International Education co-organised the Chinese Native speaker teaching program in 2012. For the project, 140 Chinese language teachers from China taught alongside Korean Chinese language teachers in classes. The difference in teaching system and methods were observed, and the comparison found each had it owns strengths and weaknesses with regards to effectiveness. This project provided a setting for research into Chinese language teaching system and methods between China and Korea, to learn from each other and have their respective effectiveness observed, setting the foundation for further academic research and valuable practical experience to draw from. However, until recently, this subject matter has not drawn the interest of the academic world and no systematic studies on this matter had ever been conducted.This article briefly examines the following:(1) research into foreign language teachers and their localisation in Korea;(2) research into Chinese language teachers and their localisation in Korea;(3) analysis of research into Korean language education. A case study in Seoul,Mok-dong wol-chon middle school where 300 first grade students took part, the research focused on teaching systems and methods used by teachers from China and Korea to teach the Chinese spoken language and their effectiveness. The Chinese Pronounce test results is Chinese teacher classes of student good better than Korean teacher classes student. This result is good of Chinese teacher teaching Chinese method. The research found advantages and disadvantages in how Chinese is taught in both countries and pointed to how their own systems and methods could be improved.This has opened a new area of study, but due to the constraints of time and ability, this article is only a brief and preliminary look into the study of the Chinese language in Korea. It is hoped that a focus on teaching the Chinese spoken language will attract greater interest on this subject matter, encouraging further development and research.
