China has a rich folkloric cultural heritage, but modernization and urbanization threaten to make these resources disappear. Current national policies encourage and support educative organizations in incorporating folkloric cultural heritage in school curricula, and the schools' artistic teachings have the means to transmit folkloric culture, which improved the possibility for folkloric cultural heritage to enter the schools artistic curricula. The author uses the example of the folk art of his home town, Yunxi, while at the same time analyzing the origins, the development and the artistic features of the local culture from the historical, philosophical, folkloric, artistic and cultural angles to explain the cultural connotation and artistic value of these folk arts. At the same time, the author analyzes the significance and current state of development and utilization of resources in the local artistic education curricula from the angles of the artistic education reform and the discipline advantages, to achieve folkloric cultural heritage transmission and the optimization of artistic teaching resources.
