Use Of Vinay And Darbelnet's Mode In Translation Of Environmental Text

The characteristics of language in science and technology review are emotional simplicity and objectivity and its language is not exaggerated with precise wording,and drafting specifications.These characteristics depend on its seriousness and objectivity of the scientific work.The translation project"Environmental Biotechnology",concerns the application of plants,microbes and earthworms in environmental management and sustainable development.Through the study of environmental biotechnology,rediscover the magical functions of certain plants and the environmental,social and economic value of microorganisms.The paper intends to advocate Vinay and Darbelnet's two overall translation strategies:direct translation and indirect translation,which are applied to the environmental review mainly to claim seven translation techniques applied to translation of environmental text to explore the practical application of each of the techniques,and then choose the most appropriate translation methods.Among them,the direct translation include:loan words,copy words and literal translation;indirect translation include:word conversion,adjustment,adaptation and so on.In the literal translation of the text,direct translation and word conversion occupy a major position,reflecting the objectivity and its rigor.The main part of the report analyzes the significance of the seven translation techniques proposed by Vinay&Darbelnet in the environmental text through presenting the typical cases.The analysis shows that the most indirect translation involved in the lexical and syntactic level.During the process of analysis,the author found that the key problem is to determine the basic unit of translation,while the classification of these techniques sometimes is blurred,because some units are not readily subject to conversion.The most important thing is,the mode of Vinay and Darbelnet actually focus on the translation product,hardly involving a higher level of discourse,and hardly involving the means which has effect on readers.Nevertheless,Vinay and Darbelnet's traditional classification of translation still affects people today who continue to explore a wider field of translation and its skills.
