Practice And Strategy Analysis Of Conference Consecutive Interpretation Under The Guidance Of Interpretive Theory

At international conferences, the interpreters, as the communicator of conference information, need not only to strive for the accuracy of target language, but also to make their interpretation coherent and easy to understand. This is the core proposition of the Interpretive Theory-The process of translation and interpreting is the paraphrasing of meaning, not just the transformation of linguistic forms. This thesis reviews the main ideas of the Interpretive Theory, and analyzes the strategies that could be used in consecutive interpretation. In case analysis, the thesis takes examples from the author’s consecutive interpreting practice. By comparing the sound file of interpreting with the original video, the author tries to find strategies to avoid mistakes and improve her interpreting performance under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory.It is hoped that these efforts may be helpful to improving future interpreters’ skills, and that the experience gained here could serve as some constructive suggestions to other language learners and interpreters.
