Positive Psychology is a rise of a new research field in American psychology in recent decade. It advocates the mobilization of the positive forces of mankind, the positive quality, creativity and other scientific methods, and then builds a positive social system, promoting the society to be perfect day by day, to meet the growing variety of human development needs. From the perspective of Positive Psychology, English teaching is a continuous adjustment of teachers' and students' psychological adaptation process, while brainstorming teaching method is widely used as a form of simple and small groups. It is good to draw double strengths and advantages by applying the advanced theory of Positive Psychology to the process of English teaching, trying to change the "Cramming Teaching" which forces the students to learn into positive English Learning. That is the requirement of the current reform of basic education, a kind of English teaching innovation attempt, and the urgent needs of the growth of students in the process of problem solving.Based on the theory of Positive Psychology, this thesis focuses on the theoretical advantages of Positive Psychology in the Brainstorming Method in English teaching. After fully discussing its concept, connotation, category, principles and the like, we can find that Positive Psychology is an indispensible part in the implementation of Brainstorming Method of college English teaching.During the graduate study, the author is lucky to be given the opportunities to teach College English as a part-time job, which makes it possible for the author to collect the materials related to the effect of Positive Psychology in Brainstorming Teaching Method upon English teaching by selecting two levels of students as subjects. This research is done by means of questionnaire survey, interviews and the method of team comparison. Analyzing some specific examples collected in the English teaching practice and comparing the teaching effect before and after the implementation of Brainstorming Method, it is found that the adoption of Positive Psychology to the Brainstorming Teaching Method is effective. That is the very purpose of the thesis:The application of the theory of Positive Psychology can promote the process of Brainstorm Teaching Method and facilitate the teaching effect.Application of Positive Psychology to the Brainstorming Teaching Method has much significance. First of all, it can establish, innovate and perfect a positive English Teaching System.The second, it can cultivate the students' positive emotion, positive personality, promote the enthusiasm of the students and the interaction between the teachers and students and maintain a harmonious relationship between teachers and students. The third, it can correctly evaluate the students' performance, create a positive English learning environment, stimulate the students'inspiration and learning interests, enhance the awareness of team work and cultivate the students' autonomous learning ability, etc.In conclusion, putting Positive Psychology into the practice of the Brainstorming Teaching Method is very beneficial for both the teachers and the students to break down the traditional English teaching and learning minds. However, the concrete cases are inadequate and the research time is too limited, therefore the results of the study may be not so persuasive and the evaluation and results are a little more subjective. Therefore, it is only the beginning of the research and further study on it should be made in the future.
