Report On The E-C Translation Of Tender Documents

Serving as the bridge for participants in international trade,international competitive bidding is of great significance.However,international tender documents are generally written in English.This makes challenges for Chinese tenderees or tenderers to participate in international trade.Therefore,the E-C translation of tender documents is critical for them.This report is based on the E-C translation of tender documents entrusted to the author by Inspur Software Group Co.,Ltd.,where the author has been an intern for a whole year.The author gives elaboration upon the whole process of translation chronologically.The process is composed of the following three steps:preparation for translation,translation plan,and editing and revision of the translation.In addition,the author makes a detailed case analysis of problems encountered in the translation and puts forward solutions to them.The case analysis is conducted from two aspects,namely,translation at the lexical level and translation at the syntactic level.At the lexical level,the author discusses the translation of technical terms,big words and formal expressions,archaic words,and modal verbs,and analyzes how to realize the equivalence of stylistic features and tones in Chinese.At the syntactic level,the author discusses the translation of long sentences and passive voices,and analyzes how to make the target-text readers respond to the text in the same manner as the source-text readers.It is hoped that this report could be a reference for the E-C translation of tender documents.And the translation process and solutions to problems encountered in the translation could provide help for the translation of the same text type in the future.
