With the development of global economy and transportation,international tourism is increasingly popular in recent years.China,as a country with a long history,attracts an increasing number of people from all over the world due to her enchanting scenery and abundant culture.Red tourism is a new emerging industry with Chinese characteristics,which aims to show the revolutionary spirit,educate the new generation and attract foreigners.However,myriads of tourism materials of revolutionary scenic spots need translating to English.Besides many existing English versions of scenic spots also leave much to be desired.Based on Peter Newmark's text typology theory,this report is composed of five chapters.Chapter 1 depicts the content and significance of the translation project.The project is to translate the tourism materials of Zhu De's native place,which targets to publicize the revolutionary culture and improve the local economy.Chapter 2 describes the theoretical basics that is Peter Newmark's text typology theory.Chapter 3 analyzes the feature of the source text from different perspective.Chapter 4 is case study,which analyzes elaborately the translation cases based on the theory of Newmark.Chapter 5 draws a conclusion of the project.This project engages the translation of the tourism materials in Zhu De's native place,which is helpful to the local tourism and the economy.The ST contains a wealth of historical and cultural information,which attempts not only to publicize the attraction but also to educate people.Communicative translation and semantic translation are used to keep the specific information and at the same time narrow the cultural gap.Besides,in order to make the TT clearer,omission and addition are also applied in translation.
