This is a short film about the story between a rural woman named Xu Wupo and a young escaped prisoner in the 1990s, Xu Wupo is a widow who lives alone, her job is to hold funeral. One day, an escaped prisoner came to Xu Wupo’s house. At first, they were wary of each other;But then Wupo found out that the escaped prisoner was not an evil man, although he accidentally killed his father. Now he has regretted, the escaping was only for his father. During these days, they were both impressed by each other and they begin to help each other. At last, Xu Wupo agreed to help the escaped prisoner to visit his father ’s grave, and the escaped prisoner promised to confess his crime after the sacrifice. This film describes the soul redemption between nobody at the very bottom in the society through the special character relationship between Xu Wupo and woman and the escaped prisoner, shows the extraordinary human nature glory of ordinary people, which full of humanist.This article based on the production process of "The Sacrifice",combined with relevant theory of film, focus on the research of literature adaptated into film, and analyse from scripts, shooting, and editing. This paper discussed the film in detail of its drawn, the conception, character setting and characterization, language style, fields and sets, props, actors, photography style, editing, toning, music and sound and so on,analyse the creating process of the film "sacrifice" to detailedly and objectively, so to interprete the work comprehensively, and summarizes the creative experience.
