A Practice Report On The E-C Translation Of Long Sentences In Political Documents

The thesis aims to study the principles and translation methods to deal with the long sentences in political documents,taking the 2016 Economic Report of President as a case.This report which belongs to political document released by the White House.While reading the report,the author is always sparkled by the long sentences which seems too beautiful and complex to be translated into Chinese.So the author chooses the chapter introduction and chapter one as the research materials used in this thesis.In the process of translation,the author tries to analyze the features of the long sentences used in this report,such as the complex sentence structure.The functional equivalence theory,which values semantic equivalence and stylistic equivalence highly.To achieve equivalence,the author analyzes the characteristics of the political documents in syntax and discourse in detail,combining corresponding translation strategies to explore translation methods and techniques of political documents.The report aims at improving the quality of the English translation of political documents,and the author hopes that this study will provide a reference for the future studies on long sentence translation in political documents.
