On Translation Of Financial Academic Paper From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

The paper takes financial academic paper as the translation material and further analyzes it from skopos rule,coherence rule and fidelity rule under Skopos Theory.Financial academic paper has characteristics of both academic papers and finance.On lexical level,there are mainly specialized vocabulary,data,and charts in financial field.Additionally,the study object in the selected material is policies introduced by governmental departments at different levels.Therefore,a large number of policy names and governmental department names are involved in the selected material.On syntactic level,it is compact and logical in structure.On textual level,financial academic paper aims to convey the most advanced research findings to scholars and researchers around the world,who have equipped with basic academic knowledge in the financial field.Based on these three levels,the translation of the material is conducted.Fidelity rule is observed in vocabulary.That is,concise words are chosen,the consistence of terms should be kept and collocations of fixed phrases are considered in order to convey the most professional information.Coherence rule is complied with in sentences.The passive voice,logical connection and impersonal subject "it" are employed.The tense is normalized and the sentence is reconstructed so that the translation can be well accepted by the target reader.Skopos rule is kept in texts.The writing purpose of financial academic paper and demands of the target readers are analyzed,as a result to make the translation convey the financial paper scientifically,accurately,objectively and normatively.The paper shows that Skopos Theory can better direct and analyze the translation of financial academic paper.However,there are still some challenges.For example,coherence rule can be better employed on syntactic level but it is not applicable on textual level.Besides,choosing accurate financial vocabulary is a hard work to do.The author co-works with the professional teacher in financial field in the translating process to make sure that the most professional terms and expressions are right.But it still can be further improved.There are five parts in the paper.The first part introduces the writing background,the translation material and the significance of the thesis.The second part is the literature review abroad and in China and general introduction to Skopos Theory.The third part analyzes the language features and applicability of Skopos Theory in financial academic paper translation.The fourth part is the application with Skopos Theory in C-E Translation of "Beijing Cultural and Creative Industry Policy Effect Evaluation Based on Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation" and specific translation methods are carried out.The fifth part summarizes the main content about the paper.The thesis hopes to provide some advice on translation study of academic paper.
