Translation Of Music-themed Academic Paper Under The Three Rules Of Skopos Theory

In Skopos Theory, no matter what type of the translation is made, the first rule is "skopos rule", according to which the selection of translation method is determined by the purpose of translation action, namely "the end justifies the means". Besides, Skopos Theory is comprised of another two rules:coherence rule and fidelity rule. In addition, fidelity rule must be conformed to the skopos rule and coherence rule firstly.According to the three rules of Skopos Theory, the present author translated a music-themed academic paper titled Music That Moves:Television Music, Industrial Travel, and Consumer Agency in Contemporary Media Culture, of which the introduction and chapter four was translated based on the three rules of Skopos Theory, the characteristics of the academic paper and the source text on the levels of words and sentences. Furthermore, the present author mainly analyzed and summarized problems and solutions in the translation process on the basis of the three rules respectively.
