A Report On English-chinese Translation Of Academic Papers Based On The Skopos Theory

Based on the translation practice of a management paper,this report is aimed to discuss translation strategies of academic papers.The translation of academic papers is an important and extremely influential category in translation practice.The previous scholars have conducted researches of academic paper translation from a macro perspective,but the researches on specific operational levels are still insufficient.Therefore,this report selects the paper “The Impact of Enterprise Risk Management on the Performance of Insurance Companies: A Comparative Study between China and the Central African Republic”,taking the skopos theory as the guiding theory,to study the translation of academic papers in management.In this respect,the author starts from the key points of translation,such as the translation of technical terms,acronyms,conversion,passive voice,long sentences,and so on.The three principles of the skopos theory are adopted to explore the best translation strategy.For example,in the pursuit of preciseness and objectiveness,English papers usually adopt a large number of nominalized verbs.Therefore,in the translation process,it is necessary to change the part of speech and ensure the consistency of the translation.In short,by following the principles of the skopos theory,and under the premise of retaining the original intention as much as possible,the author makes sure that the translation is fluent,coherent and concise.
