With the continuous development of China's economy, researches on this topic have been receiving increasing attention for its unique background and sound momentum of the development. In recent years,Chinese scholars have studied the economy of China in many researches and set their sights on international academic communication. Therefore, the translation of academic papers in the field of finance and economics is of great importance for international academic communication.Entrusted by China National Knowledge Infrastructure, the writer translated two academic papers in this field for publication on international academic platforms. The source texts study the economic phenomena in China and their influences on China's economy. Both texts have obvious academic features like formal language and strong logic,in addition, loads of financial and economic terms, complex descriptions about the processes of derivation, numbers, figures and tables are included in the source texts. This report discusses the translation of academic texts in finance and economics based on translation norm theory by Andrew Chesterman. In his theory,Chesterman divides norms into two kinds: expectancy norms and professional norms.Expectancy norms are about the expectations of target readers upon the translated texts, and professional norms regulate the translation methods adopted in the translation process and are constrained by expectancy norms. In the process of translation, the writer finds that the major difficulties in translation at lexical, syntactic and discourse levels lie in the translation of technical terms,four-character phrases, long and complex sentences,non-subject sentences, etc. This report summarizes the translation methods adopted under the guidance of translation norm theory, including paraphrase, amplification, omission, division, etc.Through the combination of theory and case analysis, this report finds that translation norm theory by Andrew Chesterman can instruct the C-E translation of academic texts in finance and economics to some extent, and the translation methods adopted under the guidance of it can well solve the problems encountered in the translation process. The writer hopes that this report can be helpful to other translators in translating academic texts in the same field.
