The Infrastructure Construction Of Yingkou Port In 1920s And Its Significance

The infrastructure construction of ports is closely linked to regional and even national economic development.The world is increasingly close contacted since modern times,and the port has become a window of national exchange.The infrastructure construction of Yingkou Port started after Yingkou became a trading port in 1861.As Yingkou Port is the only port in the northeast region at that time,the economy based on it developed rapidly,and it became an important foreign trading transit center and distribution center in the Northeast within a short time.However,Yingkou Port decayed and relegated at the beginning of the twentieth century due to port navigation obstruction and competition from other ports like Dalian port.In order to revive Yingkou Port,the port infrastructure construction was conducted in full swing.This study focus on the infrastructure construction of Yingkou Port,and divides it into two periods based on the archives.The status and achievements of the Yingkou Port infrastructure construction in the 1920 s are mainly discussed,and its significance and impacts on the northeast region are analyzed.This paper consists of three parts as follows:The first part mainly discusses Yingkou Port infrastructure construction before the 1920 s in general.It introduces the initial achievements of Yingkoug Port infrastructure construction at the early stage of port opening for trading from three aspects: the construction of terminal warehouse along Liaohe River,the construction of Yingkou railway station and the management of customs to the port.At the same time,it discusses the navigation obstruction in Yingkou Port and the influence to shipping industry.The second part focuses on the implementation of Yingkou port renovation project in the 1920 s.Firstly,it analyzes the necessity of revitalizing the infrastructure construction of the port and introduces the planning,and then discusses the implementation of improving the infrastructure construction of Yingkou Port in the1920 s from four aspects: the navigation conditions of the port,the water-land intermodal transshipment capacity,the overall infrastructure construction technologyand the port infrastructure service system.The third part summarizes the significance of Yingkou port infrastructure construction by discussing the its impact on the Northeast and evaluating it on the basis of accurate historical facts.the infrastructure construction of ports.
