Translation Strategies Of Culture-Loaded Terms In The Centennial History Of Shanxi University (Excerpt)

The C-E translation of The Centennial History of Shanxi University(hereafter referred as The Centennial History),a historical novel based on the history of Shanxi University,involves cultural elements of China's modern history and the history of Shanxi University.This report,consisting of five chapters,takes the translation of the culture-loaded terms in The Centennial History(excerpt)as an exemplar.Chapter 1 introduces the C-E translation task;Chapter 2 describes in detail the whole translation process including the preparation before the translation(task assignment,translation planning,and translation-aid materials),the translation process,the proofreading and feedback;Chapter 3 examines the language feature and translation difficulty of culture-loaded terms,and classifies culture-loaded terms in The Centennial History(excerpt);Chapter 4 makes a case study,focusing on different methods adopted in translating classified culture-loaded terms in The Centennial History(excerpt);Chapter 5 concludes the translation practice and summarizes the author's findings as well as feasible suggestions for future tasks of the same kind.
