This report is a report of draft-free consecutive interpreting practice in an activity, a lecture to international students about the status of copyright in China on November 5,2015, at Henan University. This report is inspired by the author's own troubles of practicing interpretation at the first stage (the first three months of studying interpreting). The activity was organized by Miss Zhou, who is an intern Chinese teacher in the International School for Chinese Language Culture, Henan University. The main material for this report is the keynote speech addressed by Miss Zhou in the lecture, which was interpreted into English by the author of the report. And from the perspective of Interpretive Theory, the author will mainly discuss the impact of de-verbalization on consecutive interpreting and do some research on how to conduct interpreting from the perspective of de-verbalization. Finally, the author hopes that the research results can be adopted in the daily practices for new learners.When recalling the process of the activity, the author focuses on the preparation which precedes it, which will be divided into two parts, namely pre-meeting preparation and improvised preparation.The chapter of theoretical review focuses on the essence, the triangle model and the history of Interpretive Theory. Among them, the author specially addresses the concept of de-verbalization and impact of it on the consecutive interpreting.Then the chapter of case study includes three parts:analysis of long and difficult sentences, hesitation, repetition, misinterpreting analysis and faithfulness analysis.The last part is the conclusion of the whole report. The results are concluded as follows:1. This report proves once again the importance of preparation before interpreting, especially the knowledge of background information for the interpreter.2. As for the interpreting of long and difficult sentences, if the interpreter wants to interpret them exactly and quickly, besides enough daily practice, the de-verbalization practice can also be a scientific way for improvement. 3. Practice on de-verbalization can help the interpreter reduce the ratio of hesitation, re-output and misinterpreting.4. In the process of self-practice, the new learners can try the method suggested by the author, which may help them to some extent.
