The Research On Relationship Among Object-Spatial Imagery And Verbal Cognitive Styles,Extrovert-Introvert,Occupational Interests In College Students

Some researches had indicated that the object-spatial imagery and verbal cognitive styles were characteristics of one's way of thinking, and it might effect one's external behavior in some careers. However, few researches were done in this area home and aboard. The paper focused on the interaction mechanism of the object-spatial imagery and verbal cognitive styles, extrovert-introvert, occupational interest. Firstly, the Object-Spatial Imagery and Verbal Questionnaire was revised. Then we investigated the characteristics of college students'object-spatial imagery and verbal cognitive styles, extrovert-introvert, vocational interest with the revised questionnaire, extrovert-introvert subscale of EPQ and the occupational interest questionnaire of college students. Finally, the regulating effect of object-spatial imagery and verbal cognitive styles between extrovert-introvert and vocational interest was explored. The results were as follows:(1)The revised Object-Spatial Imagery and Verbal Questionnaire had a good reliability and validity, which could be a valid tool to assess the cognitive styles of college students.(2)Chinese students were object-imagers, and there were significant difference of gender, grade, major on the cognitive styles.(3) Chinese students were neither extrovert nor introvert, and there were significant difference of gender, singleton on the extrovert-introvert.(4)College students were interested in all occupations, and there were significant difference of gender, grade, major, singleton on the occupational interest.(5)There were significant positive correlation among object-spatial imagery and verbal cognitive styles and extrovert-introvert.(6)There were significant positive correlation among occupational interest and object-spatial imagery and verbal cognitive styles.(7)There were significant positive correlation among extrovert-introvert and enterprising, social, conventional occupations.(8)Object-spatial imagery and verbal cognitive styles can positively predict all the students'occupational interest except social, and extrovert-introvert just has the positive prediction to enterprising, social, conventional occupations.(9)There were significant regulating effect of cognitive styles among extrovert-introvert and enterprising, social, conventional occupations.
