The Analysis Of Interpretation In Shaolin Temple's Tourism From The Perspective Of Interpretive Theory

With the rise of China and growing cultural influence,the ensuing cross-cultural interpretation has become a new field of translation studies.Being as the biggest school of martial art,Shaolin temple boasts profound cultural heritage.It is not only serves as a special culture carrier of Buddhist temple,but also as cultural bond between the Chinese culture and world culture,which will bring about new communication and integration opportunities.Therefore,the demand for interpretation of Shaolin culture is bound to grow.Interpretive Theory originates from interpretation practice,which proposes that translation is paraphrasing the speakers' original meaning rather than words and phrases.Interpretive Theory is a dominant theory in the field of interpretation,with great guide significance in both practice and teaching of interpretation.The school proposes that translation is paraphrasing and another explanation of the original meaning through verbal signs and cognitive complement;Interpreters should not pursue the equivalence in language units,but the meaning or effect original text.Interpreting practice is the source of Interpretive Theory,which has a unique inspiration for translation studies.The paper aims to study the interpretation in Shaolin temple on the basis of Interpretive Theory.With the help of examples,the author systematically analyzes the interpretation among common topics in Shaolin tourism,including Buddhism-related knowledge,Shaolin Kung Fu and Shaolin delicacies.Then it comes up with interpretation strategies from linguistic style,content and techniques.This thesis manages to probe into the interpretation in Shaolin temple from a new point of view,so that we can get a comprehensive understanding of Interpretive Theory and facilitate the Shaolin tourism.It is of realistic importance to help both readers and foreign tourists get an all-sided understanding of scenic spots and culture of Shaolin temple.Although some limitations of this paper can not be excluded,it will provide some inspiration for the further study in interpreting practice and theory development.
