A Report On The Interpreting Of Both A Guide's Speech About Qixia Temple And A Documentary Film

This report is based on an interpreting practice.The content of the interpretation was a guide's speech about Qixia Temple and a documentary film called The Governmental Way of Emperor Wu Di of the Liang Dynasty.The task was requested by Lishui Investment Consultancy Company where the author worked as an intern in Zhengzhou city in September,2016.The guests of the company were two American experts.Miss Gu,a current college student,was the tour guide.This report analyzes the influencing factors and the difficulties encountered in the process of interpreting.By analyzing these factors and difficulties,the author has concluded some strategies and solutions.The main innovative point is the combination of tourism interpretation and documentary film interpretation.This innovation meets the requirement of tourists for in-depth tour and leads tourists from sightseeing to deep understanding.Thus the historical and cultural resources of the scenic area can be fully displayed and promoted.The Interpretive Theory gives the author flexible ways of dealing with the culture-specific words.The interpretation gave tourists a better experience and awareness of the cultural connotations of tourism resources.After the practice,the author believes that excellent tourism interpretation can stimulate tourists' sentiment,thereby promoting the publicity of tourism resources.The key to an excellent work is explanation while retaining the cultural characteristics of the original text.This report begins with the description of the task and then the author introduces the process of interpretation,including preparation,instant interpretation,and reflection after the practice and final draft.The main part of the report is the case analysis section.The author chooses several representative problems and mistakes to analyze.Case analysis consists of three parts: the instant interpretation,the final interpretation after reflection and the analysis.In the analyses,the author points out the reasons for mistranslation or omission in the interpretation,and the need for improvement in the translation.With the rapid development of the Chinese economy and culture,more and more people start to pay attention to Chinese history and in-depth tour.Thus,tourism interpretation has played a more important role in the publicity of Chinese scenic spots.The author would highly expect this report could provide valuable reference for both the service of foreign language in the scenic areas and the study of tourism interpretation.
