Analysis Of The Strategies For Diplomatic Interpretation From The Perspective Of Interpretive Theory

Based on the case study of the foreign press conference during the two sessions from2010to2013, under the guidance of interpretive theory, this paper analyzes the difficult problems in diplomatic interpreting and concludes practical strategies for diplomatic interpretation.Diplomatic interpreting is a very important field in interpreting. Diplomatic interpreters are a bridge between countries and the international communication, so the successful work of diplomatic interpreting is related to the country’s foreign relations and foreign policy. Every year the foreign ministry press conference during the two sessions covered the most important foreign policy and international hotspot issues in recent years, so the analysis materials of this paper is very persuasive.Interpretive theory from the late1960s is a worldwide influential theory of interpretation. Interpretive theory emphasizes equivalence of the meaning in translation, rather than the equivalence of language. Therefore, interpretive theory is of great significance. Diplomatic interpreting is very difficult for interpreters because of its complicated language and high standards for interpretation. Thus, interpreters are faced with a fact that they have to convey accurately what the two sides really want to express. To guarantee the quality of interpretation and ensure the smooth progress of diplomatic activities, the interpreters need to accurately understand the meaning of the original text, get rid of the bondage of the form of the language and accurately convey the real meaning,. This paper does a case study of the foreign ministry press conference from2010to2013under the guidance of interpretive theory, analyzes the diplomatic interpretation, and sums up the practical translation strategies.
