As a common type of translation, contract translation is characterized by strong professional restraint, exactitude of logic, rigorous use of words, high level of formality in style, and legal validity. For translators, especially inexperienced translators,it is quite a big challenge. Therefore,a successful translation of such documents is worth reporting for its guidance significance, whether positive or negative.Based on the case study of concrete examples, and with Nida's functional equivalence as the theoretical support, this paper summarizes and discusses the common features of contract translation and its difficulties and problems that need special attention in translation. The author chooses Eugene Nida's Functional Equivalence Theory for guidance in the translation process, and accordingly makes translation principles, translation strategies and translation standards for the translation practice in the project.By presenting some of the gains and lessons from the translation practice through a complete description of the process and a summary of the common problems, the author hopes to provide reference for translators who begin to engage in contract translation. This report is divided into seven chapters, consisting mainly of five parts. The first part is chapter 1.The second part is chapter 2,which briefly introduces the theoretical framework. The third part includes chapter 3 and 4,which mainly introduces the background, the project information and the preparatory work that the author did before the project started as well as feedback after the translation work. The fourth part is chapter 5,which mainly analyses cases concerning the translation from three aspects:the vocabulary, sentence and style. The fifth part, chapter 6 and 7,sums up the entire project activity, including problems besides linguistic difficulties and makes reflections for further improvement in future translation and work.
