Film art-work started to break through the limitation that the front-row seats is the best viewing angle when Norman Bel Geddes removed the arch door of stage style.The film art-work can be said that completed a significant creation from The Great Train Robbery shows different environment of inside and outside scenes to the La Traviata shows the same scene with different props to enhance the visual effect of the film and then The Intolerance build a real city wall.All of these laid a certain practice foundation to the later Hollywood film's art-work creative system.Later,the film art-work spread to China to applied to the Chinese drama,film and television industry.It requires film art-work creators layout a real drama environment.Meanwhile they should shape space environment of film and trait of people according to a series reasons such as era,geography and social environment.Combined with the development of the Chinese western film,its style pattern and performance of the contents.Based on a comprehensive analysis of the social culture development and film sample of different period as a penetration point.The rheological study of the Chinese western film in the field of vision about film art-work try to study the different characteristics and elements of the film art-work by different historical stages of Chinese western film for more than 30 years on micro level.So that we can describe the different cultures of films on figurative level.This paper is not only a summary of the development process of the Chinese western film,but a detailed study of the film's cultural representation and artistic phenomenon.The paper placed the character image molds,use of props and environment modelling of the Cinese western film in a wide field of vision to find its rheological track of art-work based on semiotics of cinema,design theory,visual arts,aesthetics and other theoretical basis.Part of introduction mainly expounded the research background and methods,research trend and level of creation at home and abroad.Meanwhile introduced the results and innovations of the researches.The second part combed the theory construction of the Chinese western film and made a summary.Expounded and constructed the conception and category of the Chinese western film through the time limit,regional boundary,people's living condition,representation of western spirit,internal implication of western culture and other aspects.analysed the history of film art-work and profoundly analysed it from film's props,scenery,apparel modelling and others.Analysed the Chinese western film's art-work style rheological trend of three different stages through combing the impacts of the film art-work.The third part mainly expounded eighties Chinese western film's art-work.Under the influence of farming culture,the realism creation principle and the aesthetic pursuit of the new image narration are all the important factors that affected the creative style of film art-work.Films this period such as Life,Old Well,Yellow Earth,In The Wild Mountains and others are all put emphasis on the performance of the film noumenon on consciousness no matter on the environmental modelling,use of props or on the character design.These films artistic charm coexisted with aesthetic depth and influenced the image construction of the nineties Chinese western films in a large extent.The fourth part mainly expounded nineties Chinese western film's art-work.Films this period use environmental modelling as the first language of films.In the premise of focusing on the nature of films,these films really developed as "film aesthetic" from "drama aesthetic".In this part,through researched film art-work this period such as The Story of Qiu Ju,The Swordsman in Double-Flag Town,Red River Valley,Red Firecracker,Green Firecracker and others to explored the inheritance and development of film expressing meaning with image in the premises that pay attention to the films and return to the traditional narratives.The fifth part mainly expounded the Chinese western film art-work of new period.With the economic globalization and cultural diversity this period,the Chinese western film also faced a deeper differentiation and transformation.The film art-work style analysis this period can be divided into two stages.Firstly, films of the beginning of the new century back to insipid and returned to reality.No matter on the environmental modelling or on the character modelling are all started from real life.Secondly,the Chinese western film learned pattern of Hollywood commercial films.The films began to turn into a deeper transitional period.The paper mainly analysed the diversification of environmental modelling,the importance of character's clothing and the metaphoric function of props in the films.The sixth part is the summary paragraph of paper.With the grasp of the Chinese western film's conceptions and the definitions of film art-work to unscramble the manifestation pattern of the Chinese western films in the different period.Hope the paper can provides useful information about art-work style research of the Chinese western film.
