| The source text of this translation report is commissioned by Qingdao Sainihe Consulting Co.,Ltd..The task is “The Industrial Organization of Markets with Two-sided Platforms”,which is the first chapter of Platform Economic: Essays on Multi-Sided Businesses.The concise and fluent language used in the source text contains lots of functional words,platform names,economic terms,long and difficult sentences,which are difficult in the translation process.Employing Hans J.Vermeer's Skopos theory as guiding theory and the “Transmate” as a computer-aided translation software,this report expounds the difficulties in the translation process and offers corresponding solutions.It generally analyzes the lexical and syntactic features of the source text,adopts some translation skills such as ellipsis,transliteration and addition in the case study to deal with the difficulties at lexical level,and applies methods of division,amplification and restructure to translate long and difficult sentences.Focusing on accuracy,consistency and readability of the translation,the translation has been modified several times to meet the requirements of entrusting party.It hopes that it can help readers to have a good understanding of platform economy,aid the translator to cope with texts about platform economy and bring guiding significance for the future translation practice. |
