This thesis is a practice report on simulative interpretation of 2016 GWR of Jiangxi Province. The GWR is held at national and provincial levels annually, and the interpretation of which is a demanding job.During the process of interpreting, the author addressed issues at linguistic and non-linguistic levels. For issues at linguistic level, the author employed literal and liberal translation strategies,as well as techniques of addition, omission, and segmentation. For issues at non-linguistic level, the author suggests that more practice should be done over attention management,note-taking,as well as the interpretation of numerical information. There are five chapters in this thesis. The first chapter introduces the GWR and its contents. The second chapter introduces features of political texts--formal style, frequent use of political jargon, assertive statement and authoritative tone, the required competence in interpreting political texts,as well as principles of interpreting political texts. The third chapter describes preparation works done before starting the simulative interpretation--theoretical preparation and practical preparation. The fourth chapter is the key chapter of the thesis,in which difficulties at linguistic and non-linguistic levels encountered during the interpreting process have been discussed, and suggestions for dealing with these difficulties have been offered. For example, literal and liberal translation strategies have been employed to deal with Chinese-characteristic words;addition of subject and conjunction have been used to deal with Chinese structurally-incomplete sentences;the strategy of omission has been adopted to address the issue of redundancy in Chinese text;and logical processing and segmentation have been adopted to address long-and-complex Chinese sentences. And suggestions have been proposed for dealing with difficulties lying in the sectors of information registering,note-taking,and numbers interpretation. At last, the fifth chapter makes conclusion to this interpretation practice. For example, within this chapter, experience gained from the interpretation practice has been discussed, and problems yet to be solved have been introduced.
