A Study On Translation Of Financial And Political Report From The Perspective Of Text Typology Theory

Against the background of globalization,the competitiveness of a country becomes one of the most important factors that will determine that future development of the country,therefore,it is crucial for China to be aware of its status in the global competition and understand the benchmark of assessing the competitiveness.The Global Competitiveness Report is selected as the translation material of the current paper,in which the languages features of financial and political report will be thoroughly analyzed and concrete translation methods are to be provided accordingly.The report puts more than 130 economies under scrutiny,to assess the factors for productivity and prosperity for each economy.The selected translation chapter contains general background information about preparing the report,and a methodology of selecting and assessing the determinants for competitiveness and a detailed analysis of each region among the 138 economies being assessed.The report involves lots of financial and political terms and tone of which is formal.The language features of the report are the frequent use of terms,acronyms,long and complex sentences and passive voice sentences.Under the guidance of Reiss ’s theory,translation methods such as literal translation,amplification,omission,linear translation,and division are suggested with detailed analysis on examples.There are altogether five chapters included in the current paper.Chapter one is an introduction part.Chapter two briefly introduces Reiss’s theory.Chapter three analyzes the language features of the report from lexical and syntactical perspective.Chapter four provides concrete translation methods with detailed-analyzed examples followed...
