The Relationship Between School Bullying,Cyberbullying And Suicide-related Behavior Among The Vocational College Students In Anhui Province

Objective To observe the prevalence rate of school bullying and cyberbullying among the vocational college students in Anhui province,and to analyze the relationship between school bullying or cyberbullying and suicide-related behavior,to provide the basic knowledge for intervention on school bullying,cyberbullying and suicide-related behavior.Methods 10 574 students were selected from 5 vocational colleges by stratified cluster random sampling in the Anhui province,to measure the situation of school bullying,cyberbullying and suicide-related behavior,and to analyze the relationship between school bullying or cyberbullying and suicide-related behavior.Results This study investigates 10 158 valid questionnaires,2.5% of research objects were victims of school bullying,which was found to be associated with the relationship with the parents,parental supervise,family economic conditions and school record of study subjects;3.3% of research objects were victims of cyberbullying,which was found to be associated with place of residence,relationship with the parents,family economic conditions and school record of study subjects.Prevalence rates of suicide idea,suicide plan,suicide attempt were 5.6%,3.5%,1.8%.The differences of the prevalence rate of suicidal ideation,suicidal plan,attempted suicide in whether suffering from school bullying or cyberbullying was statistically significant(P < 0.05)for both males and females by Chi-square test;results from Logistic regression analysis showed that being bullied or cyberbullied was the risk factor of suicide-related behavior(P < 0.05).Conclusions School bullying and Cyberbulling victimization is existence among the vocational college students in Anhui province,and both of them show a close relationship with suicide-related behavior,which should be taken seriously.
