This paper mainly concentrates on the translation of Australian syllabus into Chinese,taking Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures resources:English as example.The original text material of this paper is taken from Queensland Studies Authority,Australia.Queensland has been called "Sun State",which is a state for research,study and high-technology.Choosing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures resources of Australia as example is because Aboriginal education has something in common with the education in China's minority areas,for example,both countries consist of various of ethnic groups;there are many historical,cultural and habitual differences between the Han nationality and the ethnic minorities,so as to the Aboriginal and Australians;resources in ethnic minority groups areas used for teaching and learning are limited;and generally they use bilingual education in schools.Hoping to provide some references about educational syllabus English-Chinese translation for teachers,students and policy-makers in China through the translation of Australian Aboriginal education material,so that they can learn some advantages about school education from the similar country.This paper takes the translation of Australian curriculum as example,aiming at introducing some strategies and principles when translating syllabus.Which ways can be used in the process of translation mainly depends on three factors:the identity of readers,text type,and aims of translating.Readers of this thesis are teachers,policy-makers and educates who study the education of ethnic minority in China.The author tried to translate every sentence carefully and summarize some main translation problems and strategies.Syllabus belongs to informative text,which adapts to communicative translation.Based on the communicative translation of Newmark,the author attempted to analyze some English-Chinese translation examples from the points of lexicology and syntactical restructuring,hoping to explore some schemes for the translation of English syllabus.
