Translation Practice Report On English Political News Translation

As an important way to understand the world,English news translation has gained more attention in the information communication among different countries.English political news translation,as a kind of “hard” news,is one of the most important parts of English news translation.English political news translation,on one hand,has the same features as the common news translation in spreading information and attracting readers.On the other hand,as a kind of hard news,it has the feature of seriousness.Thus,the translation of English political news needs not only to realize the purpose of spreading information,but also to cater to Chinese readers' reading habit and to be faithful to the original text.For that purpose,news translation tends to adopt the method of editing and translating.Therefore,the traditional method of equivalence can not be applied effectively to the translation of English political news.Skopos Theory,with its focus on choosing the best translation method and strategy to realize the functions of the target text,is more suitable to the practice of news translation.Therefore,this translation practice report is carried out under the framework of Skopos Theory.By analyzing and summarizing the material of the translation practice,this report seeks to adopt specific translation methods,such as addition,deletion,shift of part of speech,the change of voices,word order adjustment,to realize the three rules of Skopos Theory,namely skopos rule,coherence rule and fidelity rule,which at the same time fulfils the purpose of the political news translation,that is,to spread information and attract readers.In this process,cohesion and coherence of the source text can be maintained.
