Popular science text is a branch of scientific text.It aims at the general readers,so it is easy to understand.Besides,it conveys scientific knowledge by attracting the readers.Popular science text is the combination of science and literature. Thus, strict logic and romance of literature are both in it and the translation should take the audience into consideration and be based on the original text and guided by the anticipated readership. It should not only make the information precise, but also increase the readability of the book so as to truly achieve the purpose of scientific popularization.Skopos Theory tells that the intended purpose of the translation determines strategies. When translating, three general rules should be followed, which are skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule.Among them, the skopos rule is the first one.It means that the purpose determines the whole process of translation. The War behind Darwin is about evolutionary theory. It covers almost all aspects. It is comprehensible and very interesting. So the translator chose this book.Under the guidance of Skopos Theory, the translator chose the first two chapters of The War behind Darwin and focused on three aspects: vocabulary, sentence and paragraph. In terms of vocabulary, through the translation of terms,four-character words, characteristic expressions and redundant words, the translator knows that it is necessary to select professional words, authentic expressionselection and refer to parallel texts. In sentence, the thesis mainly analyzes the translation process of long sentences using rhetoric and humorous ones.In terms of paragraph, the coherence and cohesion between paragraphs should be paid attention to so that the style and the effect of expression can be kept.
