| The first four chapters of Mastering Leadership the Mousetrap Way: Become the Leader Others Admire and Follow,written by Manoj Vasudevan who is a leadership expert and CEO of Thought Expression,are selected as the translation material of this English-Chinese translation practice.The translation material tells that becoming a leader whom others admire and follow needs to develop four qualities-ownership,confidence,idea infusion and investment in relationship.Having finished the English-Chinese translation task about 10,000 words in the translation practice,the translator writes the translation report in the hope of offering some help to the improvement of leadership.The report contains four parts.The first part is the description of the translation task where the translator introduces the translation material,the writer and the significance about translating the material.The following part describes the pre-translation preparations,the translation process and the revisions.According to the text type classification proposed by Peter Newmark,the translator takes the communicative translation theory as the guideline.In the third part,some cases in translation are analyzed from the aspects of lexis,syntax,rhetoric,language style and adding translator’s notes.The last part summarizes the whole translation process.The translation process is compared to pregnancy,uneasy but joyful.Meantime,the translator holds that the final version still need to be polished. |
