This report is based on the English-Chinese translation of the first, the second and the third chapter of The Map-A beginner's Guide to Doing Research by Jenny Williams and Andrew Peter Clement Chesterman.Adopting Gideon Toury's Norm Theory as the theoretical basis, the author identifies the normalization and concludes the translation norms of parallel texts. On that basis, the author makes a study of the influence by the norms upon the translation strategies in practice. The research indicates that the translation norms play a decisive role in translator's decision-making during translation process.Further more, the research and summary of translation norms is of great practical significance to the translation of the text of a specific type.
