This paper takes two ethnic minorities of northern China,Mongolian and Korean,as the main research objects,and conducts a detailed comparative study on their stringed instruments.This article organizes and performs dialectical analysis on the historical materials,followed by the comparison between Mongolian morin khuur and Korean Haegeum regarding their musical instrument,timbre,playing method and other aspects.The above analysis leads to a conclusion that the each ethic style of stringed instruments is distinguishing and overall eclectic.Similarities and differences of the inheritance mode of the two ethics are then studied,thereby summing up the folk culture connotation represented by the stringed instrument and its instrumentalized ethnic spirit.This paper is divided into four parts:The first part is the outline of the stringed instrument of the ethnic minorities in the north.This part mainly uses the ethnology and historical research methods to demonstrate the reason for the differences among the northern ethnic minorities from the perspective of geographical and the cultural background,and analyses the production of stringed instruments.The second part focus on the comparison of the shape and timbre between Mongolian and Korean ethnic minorities.This part has chosen the representative stringed instruments as the example,Mongolian morin khuur and Korean Haegeum,conducts the research and analysis as well as compares the differences on the shape of the instrument,timbre and aesthetics from the perspective of music.The third part is the comparison between the musical characteristics of Mongolian and Korean stringed instruments.Also from the perspective of music,this part makes a comparative study on the playing methods and forms of the two instruments as well as their musical styles and characteristics.Then the common musical style of this kind of folk music is summed up.The fourth part talks about the inheritance pattern and the humanistic influence of the Mongolian and Korean stringed instruments,through the analysis of its inheritance pattern,the inheritance and development pattern of its stringed music,as well as the elaboration of ethnic music cultural spirit.
