Simulated Consecutive Interpretation Of Premier Li Keqiang’s Speech At The Opening Ceremony Of 2015 Summer Davos Forum:A Practice Report

This thesis is a practice report on simulated consecutive interpretation from Chinese to English.The writer chooses Premier Li Keqiang’s speech at the opening ceremony of 2015 Summer Davos Forum as the translation task.After finishing the translation,the writer describes different translation processes by reviewing and sorting.According to comparison between the different translation versions of the writer and the interpreter,some translation skills,problems and corresponding methods are discussed.Through the analysis of translation practice,this report is aimed at discussing and analysing some translation skills and strategies in the translation process.In the analysis part,the writer selects some sentences to compare with the interpreter’s translation in terms of the words choice,the conversion of sentence constituents and sentence pattern.By adopting the method of comparison and analysis,strengths and weaknesses of the two versions are found,and also some practical translation skills are presented and summarized in the translation process through combining with some specific cases.By using these translation skills,the information of original language can be reproduced to a large extent.Meanwhile,the writer hopes this report can offer some practical suggestions to the interpreting-major students and relevant interpreters.
